Hey guys the World Cup is just 90 days far and every body is excited. The bad news is for Asian people because the world cup is in Australia and New Zealand not because of the conditions but because of the odd timings. Remember Pakistan team has won their first WC in 1992. The big news is Pakistan team is on winning streak and they are one after the other of breaking records. Their fragile batting line up has declared all their innings in their last three test matches, The so called tuk tuk because of his low strike rate has scored the fastest fifty and equals the record with Viv Richards of fastest hundred by scoring in 56 balls. But the problem is they are doing in test matches which they still need to convert it in ODI’s and then it will be entering on a winning note in WC….
Pakistan will play their group matches with India, West Indies, Zimbawe, Ireland, UAE and South Africa. So on paper they have to take care against three of the six but we can not take Zim, Ire and UAE as a poor team because it is World Cup and everyone works really hard. But to contest against these teams we have to bring the most suitable 11 against each team in different conditions. In Australia we need to take care about bouncy pitches yet New zealand they have small grounds so big runs will be on the board. Of course considering the condition we can not fixed the 11.
My 20 players for Pakistan team in #WC2015:
Middle order Batsman
Umer Akmal (as a second wicket keeper)
Now they have to assess and pick the players according to conditions and opponents. If we look technically Afridi does not make in to team 11 in Australian conditions but his experience makes him to be considered over the players who are technically competent. I would pick Sohaib in New zealand instead of Asad Shafiq because of his hard hitting which will help in small grounds but go with Asad in Australian conditions. Younus, Misbah and Ahmed Shehzad will be my fixed players in batting. In bowling I am seeing Umer Gul and Muhammad Irfan leading the side. In New zealand I will go with Sarfaraz Ahmed as an opener because of his brave attitude and if he score fast it will be good for Pakistan. Muhammad Hafeez is not my favorite in Australian conditions and surely not against South Africans. Pakistan need to pick Anwar and Bhatti very sensibly. Wahab Riaz can bowl 145 kph consistently so he would be ideal in Australian conditions. But all things matter on the fitness level of these players. There are many players who seems to be lack in fitness. Also the case of Saeed Ajmal. If he is there I am sure we would have pick him against the tough three teams and we know he will deliver it there too. He has been awesome in England conditions when he was playing for county teams. Also PCB need to think about wild card entries; there may be a wild card entry in the face of Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Muhammd Sami and Imran Nazir. But who ever comes must be fully fit and on merit.
